Import AutoCad DXF/DWG

Many people have problems with the scale on imported objects from AutoCad,

here is a brief description how to solve the problem:

When you are in a project, use the "Extract" function under "File".

Find your file,  change filetype to AutoCad Files and open it, a new window is opened, highlite the object (even if it´s invisible) by marking a rectangel around the middle of the window (left mouse button pressed down). When you have caught the object you get red tools, use the arrow and drag the object to a view in your project. (it can take some time depending of the size) With the object still selected, click on "Selected items" in the control window and change "Drawing unit" to something bigger.

Hey Lasse,

I manage to extract the Cad drawing into capture. But i couldn't scale it. Its really small. Is it cos mine is a console edition? If not, could you please explain. i couldn't find the drawing scale.

Re: Import AutoCad DXF/DWG
Hey Lasse,

Ignore my previous post... i got it sorry. But just not sure how does the drawing limit works? is there a reference? for example, 1m = 1000m.

Not sure if you understand my question.

Re: Import AutoCad DXF/DWG
Hi stage"LIVE",

I'm not sure I understand your questions!

The DWG format doesn't really carry scale information very well. There is a drawing property called INSUNIT that should be set by the user when he wants to transfer objects between drawings, but most people never set this. The default drawing unit in AutoCAD in a metric drawing is millimeters.
