If anyone is having problems getting up-to-date drivers from their laptop manufacturer for ATI Mobility chipsets, then this tool may help:

Basically, it allows you to download the desktop drivers and modify them so they will install on the laptop. It installed ok for me using the latest drivers. I went from passing none of the Polar tests to passing all but one of them. So, sadly it still won't run the Polar graphics - this is maybe down to the limitations and age of the X600 chipset.

Anyway, worth a try for anyone in this situation. Hope it helps.
