I am having a problem with “objects” and moving them

Even simple objects like  “Actor” if I move it around too much the whole  program locks up  for several minutes  and can even go to Program not responding.  ( CPU is showing less than 50% )

I have tried turning OFF “Live” fields but it doesn’t seem to make any difference.

The problem is worse when I group a whole heap of objects I have designed together

I am running from a Dell M65 with Intel Centrino Duo 2Mhz with 2GB ram with a NVDIA Quadro FX 350M graphics card.  This surly is more than enough to run Capture, but it behaves like a bottom of the range unit.  What am I doing wrong?

cheers

Steve

Hi Steve,

Have you done "defragmentation" on the harddrive? Right click on the the drive C: and select "Tools" and "Defragmentation"

Hi Lasse,

Yes,  I regularly de-frag,  just hopped on then and its telling me "there is no need to de-frag" so that's not the problem.  It seems to be if I move with more than 1 step.  It’s like I have a "slow" virus that only affects that function. it’s very strange, but the fact that it does it with "standard" objects (actors) deepens the mystery.

The project is reasonably large - 60 odd moving lights.  but when I zoom and rotate and use the moving light program everything works in real time - normally, this "slow function is related only to moving objects.  I will send separately the Project file to see if you can replicate the problem.

Cheers,

Steve
