Issues with Mac OS X and ATI graphics cards

Hi,

As Matthias writes we are experiencing problems with ATI and Capture Polar 2.1 under Mac OS X. There are two underlying issues in the ATI drivers causing this, of which one has been confirmed by and the second is being investigated by ATI. We have managed to work around this in Capture Polar 2.2 which is due within a couple of weeks, unfortunately at the cost of some performance. We're hoping for ATI to remedy this as soon as possible and in the meanwhile we must ask all users with Mac OS X and ATI to wait until Capture Polar 2.2 is released!

My problem was that the VL5 has a generic dimmer patched on top of the fiture. I could get the vl5 to move, but had a problem getting any light output.

Hi Simon,

I'm slightly confused by your plotting comment. When a view is in "Paper" mode, you can move and rotate the fixture symbols as you wish, without affecting the visualization. If you don't want the symbols to "autorotate", you can also change the "Plot symbol snap" property to 90 degrees to have symbols only N/S/E/W facing. This should mean that you don't need to keep two files!

Hi Franklin,

Capture licenses are personal and not per machine. This means that in theory the number is unlimited over time, however we generally only allow two concurrent installations - then we start asking questions. :-)

"The SmartSoft Edition is based on our Basic Edition. The only difference and limitation is that you cannot connect to and visualize with any other external controllers than the ETC SmartSoft software!"

I'm sorry to say we've completely missed this posting (when we upgraded the forum components, the notification settings were trashed)! The latest version of Capture should connect to MANet 1 and 2 (but you need to activate it as described in the manual). Unfortunately we've had some reports that it doesn't work with MANet 1, which is under investigation!

According to the product compatibility chart (and as verified with Coolux) at http://www.citp-protocol.org, Pandoras Box supports only MSEX 1.0 browsing and thumbnails - so, no live video. This is a lack of functionality at Coolux's side, not Capture's.

Hi matt,

Both yes and now. You can add a screen with a material that carries a frame of your video, or you can add a material that receives streaming video from a CITP compatible media server. You could also make a gobo of a video frame and project that, but you cannot actually project an animated video. We have plans for it though.

Thanks for your reply. Shame about the price difference but understandable. My main goal was off-line program from the LSC using a maxim Capture Polar. So the best I can buy the basic version via the web.
