Hi ferg,

I'm sorry to hear it's not working out well. Which network protocol are you relying on to work? As far as I know, the Ion doesn't support CITP, so compatible mode won't make a difference. In that case I suppose you're plannig to use ETC Net technology. Are you using the latest version of Capture? Have you spoken to ETC support?

My problem was that the VL5 has a generic dimmer patched on top of the fiture. I could get the vl5 to move, but had a problem getting any light output.

Thanks for that!! I thought I had upgraded my library yesterday but obviously I failed to in some way! Does the filename matter? I had an old library file in my downloads folder so OSX had changed the name to library-1.c2a. Anyway this time i deleted the old files first and all was good. Thanks again.

That sounds fairly odd. Does it always grow slower over time, or is it something specific you do (moving the camera, ways you use the lights, how you control it etc)? If you could please send me your showfile I would really like to take a look at it, lars@capturesweden.com.

No Connection between Capture & Clarity on Mac or PC

hello woody!

the loopback adaptor is only required if both software are installed on the same pc and there is no active network connection. In other words it simulates a network. so question first, is both installations in the same pc or you have a network cable between the two installations, be that two pcs or a pc running capture and a console?
secondly, in capture select tools, select options and then the connectivity tab. then choose the preffered network adress in case you have more that one active networks.
finally if all the above are working fine in the Universes tab in Capture you must see the console output in the external universes. if you dont see them there it is a matter of console output or network problem. if you see them there then you have to patch them to the internal capture universes by selecting the internal and then doubleclicking the external. after this step if the fixtrues are patched to the internal universes and you switch to live mode you will see them lighting up and being controled by the console.

Hi Simon,

I'm slightly confused by your plotting comment. When a view is in "Paper" mode, you can move and rotate the fixture symbols as you wish, without affecting the visualization. If you don't want the symbols to "autorotate", you can also change the "Plot symbol snap" property to 90 degrees to have symbols only N/S/E/W facing. This should mean that you don't need to keep two files!

Hi Simon,

AMD or Intel are both fully compatible, will not make any difference. As for minimum memory, just follow the minimum memory requirement of Windows. Speed - nothing special really, anything above 2 GHz is definately enough.

Hi Lauri,

I've done a bit of research now. Capture will compensate for landscape/portrait changes, but only as long as the paper size is the same. So, if your plot is in A4 landscape but you print in A4 portrait, Capture will 'rotate' the plot so it comes out right. But, if you've made an A4 plot and print it in A3, it will not work as the paper size doesn't match.

After some unsuccessful attempts to create an A3 PDF it's clear that we need to investigate the matter further on our side. More information will follow.

Hi,

We have found an interesting quirk on OS X - if you have multiple IP addresses present, it would seem better to leave the setting in Capture on "automatic", even though it tells you to pick one. (!) We're changing this for 2.4.
